Bring a Unique Energy to Your Space
A commissioned painting is more than a custom piece of art; it is a joint venture of bringing your vision to life. It begins with your vision, memory, or emotional resonance and transforms through my material-led process into a one-of-a-kind abstract world.
Whether inspired by a specific place, a personal journey, a colour harmony, or an emotional state, a commission is an opportunity to own a one of a kind piece of art tailored to the story of your space.
My Approach to Commissioned Work
I do not create literal representations. Instead, I translate concepts, atmospheres and personal narratives into abstract compositions. Your input—be it a photograph of a meaningful landscape, a piece of fabric, a description of a feeling, or a palette that speaks to you—serves as the catalyst. From there, I employ my signature laboratory methods, working with mixed media, resins, and pigments to build a painting that embodies the essence of your inspiration, filtered through my artistic lens.
The result is a deeply personal yet authentically Finlinson piece: a layered, textural work that resonates with private meaning and carries the dynamic, unpredictable beauty of its own making.
FAQ
What size commissions do you accept?
I typically accept commissions starting at 20 inches on the shortest side. Larger, statement pieces are most common. Please inquire for specific dimensions.
How long does a commission take?
From initial contact to delivery, please allow a minimum of 8-12 weeks, depending on scale, complexity, and current studio schedule. Drying/curing times for my layered, resin-integrated works are essential and cannot be rushed.
What is the price range?
Commissions are priced based on size, material complexity, and framing requirements. As a guide, commissioned works generally start at £1,500. A precise quote will be provided in the proposal stage.
Do you work from photographs?
Yes, but as a point of departure, not replication. I am particularly drawn to translating landscapes, architectural details, or close-up textures into abstracted emotional fields.
Can you match my interior colours exactly?
While I can work within a specific colour palette, my process relies on organic reactions between materials. I will honour the mood and harmony of your palette, but the final work will exhibit the beautiful unpredictability inherent to my technique.
